The National Energy Center of Excellence at Bismarck State College is pleased to announce a new operator training program dedicated to the field of water and wastewater treatment. Bismarck State College has been a leader in operator training for four decades working with and for industry to help fulfill the need for skilled workers.
Beginning in the fall of 2012, online courses for a Certificate in Water and Wastewater Technology will be offered. This program is designed for entry-level employment in water treatment plants of all types; city and rural utilities, power plants, process and other industrial facilities.
Students that enroll in this training program will attend online training for two semesters allowing them to enter the workforce within one year.
- Graduates will learn to apply biological, chemical, and mechanical knowledge and skills to the operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities.
- Laboratory testing and analyses for operational control and regulatory compliance is another important component of this curriculum.
- The responsibilities of water and wastewater treatment operators regarding the safety of communities, personnel and the environment will be emphasized.
- An internship in the final semester of this program will allow graduates to demonstrate safe, efficient operation and routine maintenance of a treatment facility and related equipment.
The courses for this program will be offered during the fall and spring semesters in an online format only. Registration opens in April with classes beginning in August. Financial Aid is available for qualified applicants.
