Nuclear Power Technology (NUPT)Link to BSC Apply for Admissions
This program, established with the Energy Providers Coalition for Education (EPCE), is designed for current and future nuclear power employees. Students gain fundamental skills and knowledge required for non-licensed operator, maintenance, chemistry and health physics along with a degree specialized for non-licensed operator and health physics positions in nuclear generation systems. This program is also a great opportunity for present nuclear station employees in non-technical areas, and all employees who are seeking a degree and/or additional training.

An agreement between Exelon and Bismarck State College will allow Nuclear Power Technology students an opportunity to substitute their education for training. Students completing specific requirements of the agreement will receive a National Academy for Nuclear Training Certificate. The certificate states that the student has successfully completed nuclear fundamental training objectives and allows certified students to bypass fundamental training once employed in a nuclear facility.  Visit the NEI Uniform Curriculum Program link for more information.

Students have the following options:
Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Nuclear Power Technology
Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree in Nuclear Power Technology and an NUCP certificate
Program Certificate in Nuclear Power Technology
Nuclear Power Technology Courses (college courses for professional development)

Developed in collaboration with EPCE nuclear industry partners, The Nuclear Power Technology program is approved by the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). The purpose of NEI is to foster and encourage the continued safe utilization and development of nuclear energy to meet the nation's energy, environmental and economic goals and to support the nuclear energy industry by providing encouragement to educational institutions to promote education in nuclear energy disciplines.

BSC's Nuclear Power Technology program is supported by many EPCE member utilities. Visit the EPCE website for a listing of these companies.

Bismarck State College is proud to include the fully-accredited Nuclear Power Technology program along with other on-campus and online course offerings. BSC has been teaching customized programs for the energy industry for over 40 years and was selected by EPCE to custom develop the Nuclear Power Technology program for the nuclear industry. BSC received funding from the National Science Foundation for development of the online Nuclear Power Technology program.

Enrollment: Courses for this program begin every 8 weeks on a rotating schedule.  Refer to the New Students page on this website for information on how to apply for admission, placement requirements and instructions on how to complete your admission file.
